But my eyes are toward you, O God, my Lord; in you I seek refuge; leave me not defenseless!
Psalm 141:8 ESV
I noticed the solar panel had moved. In the morning, it was facing east and now that it was the afternoon; it was facing in a westerly direction. It was tracking the transit of the Sun across the sky.
I learned in school that Sunflowers do that, too. That’s where the solar panel companies got the idea from to have the solar panel track the Sun across the sky. They do that, the flowers and the solar panel, so they can maximize exposure to the Sun and its life-giving energy.
That is a splendid picture of how I should be with God. Orienting myself toward Him so I soak up His life-giving energy. I should remain focused on following God’s directions in my life.
So, how do I stay locked on Him?
I make sure I spend time in His word, go to church, spend time with fellow Christians, pray, worship Him.
That’s not to say it’s easy. The flowers must deal with clouds getting between them and the Sun, rain getting in the way, wind trying to blow them around, and then night time when there is no Sun. They store energy to get through the dark times. The solar panels store energy in batteries for when the dark times come.
And the dark times come. The Holy Spirit is our spiritual battery. He reminds us of the things we’ve read and the goodness of God when the dark times come.
Let’s always stay dialed in to Him.
